With the 2024 theme "Acting Together for Persons with Disabilities to Access & Live Independently", this festival is considered an important occasion, held annually across all local associations of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Vietnam.
According to statistics from Nhan Dan Newspaper: "Vietnam currently has more than 7 million persons with disabilities, accounting for over 7.06% of the population aged 2 and older, of which severely and exceptionally severely disabled persons account for about 28.9%, and about 10% of persons with disabilities belong to poor and near-poor households." Therefore, "along with raising community awareness about the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities so they can fully access State support policies on healthcare, education, vocational training... 'employment' for persons with disabilities is the most sustainable 'pathway' to help them truly integrate into society and build an independent life."

Particularly in Lam Dong, Caritas Dalat had the opportunity to participate in this meaningful festival alongside: the Duc Trong Association of PWDs (held on April 15 at the association's office in Lien Nghia Town, Duc Trong), the Dalat Association of PWDs (held on April 17 at the Dalat City Flower Garden) with the presence and co-participation of the Da Teh Association of PWDs, and the Bao Loc Association of PWDs (held on April 18 at the Multi-purpose Hall - Cultural and Sports Center of Bao Loc City).
The festival is an occasion for members to gather, look back on the journey they have traveled, and share their thoughts and aspirations. It is also an opportunity for everyone to participate in trivia games, music and dance performances, fashion shows, sightseeing, and picnics to immerse themselves in nature—especially physical games with a very unique character that only PWDs have, such as wheelchair and hand-cycle racing.

For the members, participating in local associations of PWDs is not merely for socializing and activities, but it is also a spiritual support system, a second family where they can become more confident, live more integrated lives, overcome difficulties, promote their own strengths, and strive for economic development.
With the power of love and solidarity, we hope that our brothers and sisters in the local associations of PWDs will always believe in themselves and strive constantly, as Nick Vujicic—the world-renowned inspirational speaker—once said: "If I fail, I will try again, and again, and again. If YOU fail, will you try to do it again? The human spirit can endure things much worse than we imagine. What matters is HOW you REACH THE FINISH LINE."
