REPRODUCTION IN MARRIAGE
“At the end of adolescence, young people must be introduced to the signs of fertility and then to natural methods of regulating fertility, but only in the context of education about love, about fidelity in married and family life, about God's plan for procreation and respect for human life” (The Truth and Meaning of Sexuality, no. 125).
Procreation is a gift, a purpose of marriage, because conjugal love is naturally oriented toward procreation. The Church emphasizes: "In the duty of transmitting human life and education, which must be considered their own mission, the spouses know that they are collaborators of God's love and as expressions of His love. Therefore, they will fulfill their duties with the responsibility of a human being and of a Christian" (GS 50).
A special aspect of responsibility concerns the regulation of procreation: “When it is necessary to harmonize conjugal love with the responsible procreation of children, it must be realized that the moral value of the act depends not only on the sincere will and the weighing of reasons, but must be evaluated according to objective criteria, drawn from the nature of the human person and the nature of his acts: standards that respect the full meaning of self-giving to each other and of the procreation of children. That, in the context of true love, is something that cannot be done without truly cultivating spousal chastity" (GS 51).
“In maintaining the two fundamental aspects of union and procreation, the spousal act retains the full meaning of mutual and authentic love, and the direction of that love to the supreme task of parenthood” (HV 12).
Periodic continence, methods of fertility regulation based on self-observation of the cycle of infertile periods, is compatible with objective standards of morality. These methods respect the bodies of the spouses, encourage mutual affection, and promote education in true freedom.
“Furthermore, everyone must be aware that human life and the task of transmitting life are not limited to this life alone: their true appreciation and full meaning can only be understood with reference to man's eternal destiny.” (GS 51).
The course will help young people and couples gain the necessary knowledge to understand the beauty and scientific value of natural methods to live love between couples, preserving the beauty and truth that is the purity of "moral principles" (doctor Angelo Francesco).
