From the first days of accessing Caritas Dalat in 2014, the people of villages 1B and 5B Dinh Trang Hoa were gradually encouraged to realize their current situation as coffee monoculture farmers, not enough money to invest on degraded land, and in debt because of chemical fertilizers. Then they started to exchange and learn about the weed coffee model in Tan Thanh. By 2018, a group of farmers was formed to test the new model, share and support each other in the change process. The group's goal is to grow coffee for grass with a special coffee harvesting and processing stage (picking ripe cherries, drying them in natural conditions). Some households also started testing organic coffee, without using any chemical fertilizers.
After 4 years of operation with many difficulties and challenges, we have now built a quite complete operating structure. Regarding facilities, people have built a roasting room and basic machinery and equipment for processing and packaging products. In addition, the team is also trained to be able to do digital marketing, introduce products and team culture to customers.
The launch ceremony had the presence of the Party Committee Secretary, Chairman and Vice Chairman of Dinh Trang Hoa Commune People's Committee, representatives of Di Linh District Agriculture Department, Caritas Dalat, people of Village 1B and members of the Cooperative Group. During this ceremony, Commune Chairman Dinh Trang Hoa handed over the decision to establish a cooperative group to the group.
Even more honored, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee Dinh Trang Hoa, on behalf of local leaders at all levels, presented flowers to congratulate the people. This event is an important milestone in the formation and development of OhMi Kohoh Coffee.
The ceremony took place successfully with joy and joy with the hope that the development of Dinh Trang Hoa organic coffee products will reach out and grow in the domestic and international markets, contributing to maintaining the stability of the lives of people in the Cooperative Group and the spirit of ecological agriculture to spread in the community.
Ohmi Koho Coffee cooperative group is one of 2 cooperative groups, 6 community ecological product development groups and 3 gong groups inspired by Caritas Dalat's People's Self-Development program starting in 2014 in ethnic minority villages in Lam Dong province.
