Remember that in June 2020, Caritas Dalat organized training on sustainable bee exploitation for bee hunters in Dung K' No commune by Dr. Phung Huu Chinh from Mountainous Bee Development Joint Stock Company, an expert with extensive experience in researching and teaching about bees, especially domestic bees, for many organizations and communities at home and abroad. After the training course, the people of village 2, Dung K' No commune have the knowledge and understanding to make the indigenous product wild honey. In the 2021 honey season, a group of bees called Pokao was formed with 7 hives and 37 members. With the desire to develop and increase the value of locally available wild honey products of natural origin and reduce dependence on coffee trees. The team has gradually improved input control, bottling and product sales.

But everything is not as easy and smooth as planned. More than 100 liters of honey was carefully bottled by the team but it broke. Some customers also reported that the honey bottle at their home broke without any outside influence. A question of why got the group thinking. Then there are other questions: Why does honey change color so quickly? Why does honey spoil? Why is honey frozen?... While we have done it right since the honey was still in the hive hanging on the tree.

So the group decided to contact and find experts to answer questions about the recent honey season. On the journey to find answers, the group is still accompanied by Caritas Dalat and the Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP) program. The two units created conditions for employees and farmers to go to Hanoi to learn with teacher Phung Huu Chinh from April 2 - 4, 2022.

The group was enthusiastically taught, practiced, and observed by the teacher on the actual process and principles to achieve the best quality honey. The lively atmosphere in the classroom makes both teachers and students excited. The simple sharing from the bee hunter after watching the video provided by the teacher made him exclaim: Our people are doing so well, they know how to exploit sustainably! Because in the video the honey collector used smoke and fire to chase away the bees, the farmer saw that and immediately said: Teacher, that will kill the bees and cause a forest fire. Just like that, the study time passed very quickly.

After the course and serious practice. The group also came up with work to do under the teacher's advice. The 2022 honey season is approaching, the team will try their best to bring bottles of pure wild honey to consumers. If customers have good customer service, the group will be even more proud of the indigenous products they make. Pokao honey, honey from the mountains and forests of Dung K' No.
