Campaign: Love Agricultural Trips

For nearly a month, Caritas Dalat has carried out a campaign of "loving agricultural products" towards Saigon with all the love of charity. The total amount of goods sent so far is approximately 100 tons of all kinds of vegetables and fruits.

Who joined hands?

The program has received companionship and encouragement from fathers, monks, volunteers and many people regardless of age or religion. Everywhere in the diocese, especially in fruit and vegetable production areas such as Don Duong, Duc Trong, Lam Ha, Bao Lam, many parish priests, parishioners and the entire Thien Loc Cistercian order joined hands to respond. In remote areas such as Da Tong, Dung K'no, Loc Tan, people also go to the forest to collect vegetables and bamboo shoots and contribute what they have in the garden to deliver to Caritas Saigon. In Dalat, when learning that the vegetable gardens were being given away for free, the Caritas office called for volunteers including nuns of Divine Providence, Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, Our Lady of the Mission, MTG Dalat, Caritas Mai Anh parish, Tao Tac parish, residents of CMT8 street and many other young people of different religions to harvest, pack and transport. Parish priest Thanh Mau and Mai Anh also accompanied and actively supported in introducing the garden, harvesting and logistics stages. It is expected that every week Caritas diocese will continue to ship 2-3 shipments with a total volume of around 50 tons.

In addition, many parishes such as Thanh Mau, Tung Lam, Don Bosco, Tao Tac, Nam Ban... and many other places are still actively collecting and transporting agricultural products to places in need in Dong Nai, Saigon, Phu Cuong...

Spirit of unity in the campaign!

In this meaningful campaign, everyone has agreed as one, many generations, many different levels of life inside and outside the Church have joined hands to contribute. I don't know how fierce the Virus is, but thank God because this is an opportunity to connect people in the highlands with people in the plains, urban people with rural people, young people with the elderly, this parish with that parish, priests - monks - monks with parishioners, Catholics and non-Catholics. They all act out of love for their fellow human beings! In the villages, some people have bananas, some have bamboo shoots, Bep vegetables, chayote shoots, pumpkins, ginger, lemongrass, limes, chili, etc. Yet there are places that collect 5 tons of all kinds of specialties. Children went with their parents to cut rubber buds, and grandparents brought handfuls of rice to the church to deliver to the brothers in Saigon.

Who are the Gifts sent to?

These agricultural products were delivered to Caritas Saigon, Caritas Phu Cuong and several communities in Bien Hoa to distribute to those in need. In addition, small orders are also delivered to kitchens of hospitals, convents, volunteer groups serving the poor, disabled, homeless, migrant workers in quarantine areas, blockades, quarantine checkpoints, kitchens serving doctors at field hospitals, and 0 VND supermarket chains.

The road is still long…

The road is still long because we don't know when the epidemic situation will stabilize. Caritas Dalat continues this campaign and we appreciate the help of garden owners, fathers, monks, brothers and sisters, and friends of other religions. Mother Teresa of Calcutta said: “One of the greatest diseases is living without helping anyone”, we believe that the activities we are doing are one of the remedies to heal the consequences of the pandemic. May God bless the efforts and contributions of each person and member. These contributions are like small drops of water combined into a vast ocean of God's love and human love.
