In Daraho village, Lieng Trang 2 village, there are 10 women who volunteer to participate in the Micro-credit - savings program.
At first, when doing so, the women encountered many difficulties in making savings, borrowing money, repaying loans... Because they were not used to taking notes, they encountered many difficulties, especially writing numbers in the tens, hundreds, and thousands... they did not know how many zeros there were. Therefore, Caritas Dalat organizes training classes and sharing sessions on income and expenditure. The girls learn numbers and basic addition and subtraction. Since then, collecting savings, borrowing capital, repaying loans and calculating the total savings of each member becomes clearer, women in the group trust each other more and support each other to develop. Currently in the village there are 2 groups with 20 people and the total savings until November 2021 is 50 million VND.
Through the Credit - Savings program, many women know how to calculate in production and know how to make reasonable expenses for the family's daily activities, unlike before, no matter how much money they have, they spend it all without knowing how to save.
Not stopping at the savings program, in May 2014 Caritas Dalat chose the village as the site to implement the PLD Project. Since then, the women's savings group in Daraho village has called on more husbands to join the project. When participating in the PLD project, the group had the opportunity to exchange and learn, receive training to improve capacity, etc. After two years of implementing the project, the savings group became the core group of PLD, having the opportunity to exchange and learn in many places inside and outside the province, including people going to Thailand to learn.
Through learning exchanges in November 2016, a gong team of women in the savings group was established, and a group wrote a sub-project to buy a boat across the river to the production area. The group also intercropped fruit trees in the garden, composted, transplanted SRI rice, planted coffee for grass, etc. And a youth group in the village was also formed to help organize fun events in the village and open Life Skills classes for young people.
In addition, the group received support loans from Caritas Dalat through the Microcredit - Savings program such as borrowing fertilizer, adopting cows, and borrowing money to invest in production. Currently, cow rotation is still maintained within the group. In coffee farming, people realized that selling fresh coffee did not bring benefits to them, so they wrote a project to buy green coffee grinders with the goal of selling coffee at a higher price. Coffee peels can be composted to fertilize the plants.
The group of women in Daraho still maintains and promotes the spirit of working together, knows how to operate and maintain the savings group and the PLD group, and together with the Sisters, they mobilize women to collect waste and bottles to sell to raise funds for the diocese, grow clean vegetables, maintain and assign people to pull boats across the river and manage coffee mills for people in the village. With the total funds received, the group bought an additional wheel starter for the village.
People unite to support each other in preserving and developing good traditional culture, which is the joy of the village and the project.
