Ecological Agriculture Workshop at K' Tip - Ta Nang - Duc Trong
We dream of building a united community, retaining national traditions, living happily in a clean environment associated with fields and gardens not polluted by chemical fertilizers, freedom from debt, an abundant and abundant food source to provide for the family and community, young people to develop, continuing the love of the homeland, villages, fields... That is the dream of 20 households in Katip drawn up during the visit of Dr. Chitô, Philippines today. May 27-28, 2022 thanks to the connection of Caritas Dalat.
The learning exchange began with a walk and observation of the entire production area. Then the seminars give farmers time to review the current state of agriculture in the area: farming and trading methods, self-sufficient food sources and business crops; manifestations and effects of climate change on community livelihoods; influence of stakeholders in the agricultural supply chain.
People were also introduced by experts on how to select, improve and especially breed new rice varieties suitable for the local soil and climate. Dr. Chitô also gave 10 pure rice varieties from the Philippines to Ka tip representatives as the first step of the rice variety selection and breeding program here. He also contributed ideas to help strengthen community as well as improve soil recovery, water and nutrient management on sloping land farming, as well as diversify livelihoods to increase resilience and reduce risks to climate change.
Pocket entertainment night with traditional dances expressing the richness of Churu culture that is being restored and preserved by the group.
Leaving Katip with deep joy through wonderful experiences of hospitality, I thought to myself, happiness is like that: a united community, always eager to learn and improve, with an abundant source of healthy food all year round, a green environment and a stable source of income, enough for living and children to go to school for a future generation to continue the beautiful tradition. Hopefully Katip's dream will come true soon.
